Quick Q&A with Kazuki Suzuki

What is your background involving laser machines and the fabrication industry?

"I joined Mazak when I was in Japan as a laser applications engineer and spent six years providing training and service support to customers. During that time, I had the opportunity to visit customers all over Japan and assist them with the implementation and operation of their 2D and 3D laser machines. 

My move to the United States brought me to Mazak Optonics where I continue to work as an applications engineer. My main responsibility includes product research and development."

What is your current role at Mazak?

“My current role at Mazak is applications engineer in the research and development department where I am the primary point of contact for communication with Japan. In my role, I am responsible for evaluating new machine models and technologies, communicating important updates to our team of engineers, plus consulting with and reporting to our headquarters in Japan.”

What is your definition of great customer service?

"Being friendly and willing to tackle customer requests is a big part of great customer service.

During my time working in Japan, I found that nothing facilitates customer training and support work better than maintaining a good relationship with our customers. I also believe that efficiently reacting to requests is an important part of building a good relationship."

What are your hobbies and interests?

"I love classic American cars and owned a Dodge Challenger when I was in Japan. On weekends, I enjoyed driving through old townscapes and along mountain roads."

What’s one thing that bring you joy?

"A place to chill and drink while talking and connecting with other people. When I was in Japan, I looked forward to going to hot spring resorts and other similar places with friends every year."
