We are the first Japanese machine tool manufacturers to start overseas production, and we have established multiple manufacturing plants worldwide.
1919 - 1950
1919 | - | Yamazaki Sadakichi founded Yamazaki Machinery in Nagoya and began manufacturing of straw mat weaving machinery. |
1923 | - | Established a new factory in Atsuta, Nagoya |
1927 | September | Began the manufacturing of machine tools including lathes and milling machines. |
1928 | - | Developed the first commercial machine tool. |
1934 | - | Developed the first motor-drive roll lathe. |
1939 | - | Established Yamazaki Machinery sales department. |
1946 | May | Teruyuki Yamazaki joined company. |
1951 - 1970
1959 | - | Began manufacturing of high-speed, high-precision lathes (LA,LB,LC and LD series). |
1961 | May | Expanded to overseas market. Exported 3 LD series to Indonesia. |
October | Oguchi plant began operation. | |
November | Joined Japan Machine Tool Builders' Association. | |
1962 | June | The industry's first export to the United States, a large-scale contract for 200 LE series lathes. |
September | President Sadakichi Yamazaki passed away. | |
October | Teruyuki Yamazaki appointed president. | |
1963 | May | Announced the brand "MAZAK" and began mass production of Mazak lathes. |
1965 | July | Moved Headquarters to new plant in Oguchi. |
1968 | July | Established Yamazaki Machinery Corporation in New York, U.S.A. |
September | Developed the first Mazak NC lathe, MTC series. | |
1970 | April | Developed the first Mazak machining center, BTC No. 5. |
April | Established Dusseldorf, West Germany offices. |

1971 | September | Developed the first adaptive control lathe, MTC-1500R-AC, in Japan. |
1974 | July | Completed Yamazaki Machinery Corporation (current name: Mazak Corporation) Facility in Greater Cincinnati. |
1975 | August | Established Yamazaki Machinery Europe N.V. in Leuven, Belgium. |
1976 | November | Developed the machining system YMS-30. |
1979 | October | Completed world headquarters Technical Center in Oguchi. |
1980 | July | Established Yamazaki Machinery U.K. Ltd. |
1981 | February | Established Yamazaki Maquinas Herramientas S.A. de C.V., Mexico. |
April | Established Yamazaki Machinery Deutschland GmbH in Frankfurt. | |
June | Developed world’s first conversational CNC system for lathes, the MAZATROL T1. Developed CNC lathe QUICK TURN 10. | |
October | Yamazaki Machinery Corporation joined NMTBA (current name: AMT). | |
October | Unmanned nighttime FMF plant began operation at Oguchi Headquarters. | |
1982 | February | Established MAZAK SERVICE FRANCE S.A. near Paris. |

1987 | June | Yamazaki Machinery U.K. (current name: YAMAZAKI MAZAK U.K. LTD.) began full-scale operation of CIM plant in Europe. |
November | Established Tokyo Tsukuba Techno Hall. | |
1988 | March | Yamazaki Machinery U.K. exported CNC machine tools to Japan for the first time. |
September | Mazak Corporation received a All-American Top 10 Best Company Award. |
1991 - 2000
1991 | October | Yamazaki Machinery U.K. received a Best in the World Companies Award in the machine tool field from the Swedish Royal Academy of Science. |
1992 | April | "Queen's Award for Export Achievement" awarded to Yamazaki Mazak U.K. Ltd. |
May | YAMAZAKI MAZAK SINGAPORE PTE., LTD. began plant operation. | |

1993 | August | Developed automatic aluminum wheel manufacturing system, AW Factory 650. |
